A New Love

I have a new love. And once again, as per usual, he's fictional. First, there was Prince Phillip from Sleeping Beauty and then Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice. Then Edward from Twilight and Ian from The Host. Matthew Steed from the Work and the Glory Series, etc. I have a ridiculously large list of those fictional men that make up my fantasy world as I currently don't have any real boys knocking on the door. And last night, I added a new one:

That's right. I went and saw The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian last night as I got to sleep in this morning (thanks to President Bush's visit to my work area and the CIA considering me and my co-workers to be security hazards). And I fell in love. I don't know if it was the deep brown eyes, or the fake Spanish accent (although there were times when I was hoping he'd start saying something in Spanish so I could like him even MORE). But something about this guy (who's also 26 and single and British) just was very pleasant to look at. Maybe it's the fact that I haven't been on a date in over a year, but I was pleased to watch 2.5 hours with him on the screen for the majority of that time.

But in reality, his best scenes were the ones with Susan. Now, if you don't want to be spoiled, you don't have to watch this video. But I found someone on youtube who had put together a fantastic video of all of the scenes with the two characters. In the actual book there is no romance, but it was brilliantly done and made me start wishing for a guy of my own. To have a boy look at me like he looks at Susan. *sigh*

Meeting Stephenie Meyer

I know it has been awhile, but it seems like nothing ever really happens. However, a week ago, something cool happened. I went to a Q&A and signing with Stephenie Meyer. If you don't know who she is, have you heard of the book, Twilight, of which I have mentioned a couple of times in previous posts? Yeah, she's the author. She just came out with a new book which I am displaying for you in the picture above. It is called The Host and is amazing. I really enjoyed it. And yes, I cried. I haven't cried reading a book, ever. Well, minus The Book of Mormon but that's different. It's an interesting story about an alien invasion on earth, or at least the aftermath of said invasion. Now, before you write it off, I hate, HATE science fiction. I have a difficult time with other realities. But this one was interesting. I somehow managed to be interested and enthralled. So, there! Go read it!

Anyways, remember how I said that I slept on a sidewalk to get tickets? Yeah, it was for this. I got tickets for me and my niece, Angela. Yes, I know I don't look good. It's been a stressful couple of weeks of work, and I had to stand out in the sun for a couple of hours and was exhausted! But here's our picture inside the auditorium.

Now you probably want to know if it was worth it? The answer is no. It wasn't worth it. We got in and got our seats and sat for 2 hours. Stephenie Meyer came on for 15 minutes and answered some questions. Then she started signing books. Three hours later, I finally got up to have her sign my books. There was enough time for her to verify my name according to the post-it note in my book (we got one book that she personalized) and say "hello, how are you?" And get a response before I was shuffled away. I didn't even get a chance to say how her story has inspired me to get back into writing. And also to tell her how much I loved The Host. So, if anyone has the chance to meet her or knows her personally, could you pass on the message? I don't think I'll have a chance again.

Anyway, as an update, I'm currently working on Chapter 6 of my yet-to-be-titled story. It's going splendidly and more stories are popping up into my head every day. I'm really liking the creativity! I hope you're all well.

Oh yes, I'm going back to California in July. Yeah for July 4th weekend! I'm taking advantage and getting out of Utah for the first time since Christmas. I am SO excited.

I don't think there's anything else I can say. Except that tonight, I'm going to camp out for tickets to a Stephenie Meyer signing. If only there was a better way...
