Birthday Fun Day

A month and 9 days ago, I turned 31. And now I'm going to blog about how that went...

The day before was an exceptionally good hair day. Evidence:

The morning went off like it always does—wake up, workout, shower and get ready for work. But for the first time in a long while, this girl didn't have to scrape ice off her windshield:
PS... that's my car. 1 year since I bought it!

As is tradition, I had my favorite cake (and I made it...) Chocolate cake with caramel frosting.
My co-workers loved it.

My friend Jenn took me out to lunch to Blue Lemon and I introduced her to butternut squash soup. It's like dessert for the soul.

The rest of the work day went by as usual. And then, Heidi and Heather gave me my surprise: a makeover and a gift card at Sephora.

No makeup...

With just foundation....

I asked a LOT of questions (because let's be honest, I need a lot of help when it comes to make up).

The final face...

And then I purchased a bunch of products. But can I just say that it's nice to not worry about my face anymore. I always look good now.

Megan and I both had a birthday in January so we were celebrating together.

After Sephora, we went to Red Rock for some dinner. It was just us girls and we all went around the table and talked about what our big goals were for the year.
The gang.

After all of that fun times, we went back to Heidi and Heather's for my birthday cupcakes that Heidi made (way to go, Heidi!).

Birthday wish... better come true this year!

After the cake, we watched American Idol and then I had to head home for bed since work was happening in the morning.

In the month and 9 days that I've been 31, I've definitely had my share of bad times. From having to transfer to the family ward and all that entails, to missing my friends who are not in my ward anymore, to trying to finish grad school there have been more than a few tears cried. But it's all a part of the growth process, right? Or so I hope...
