Until We Meet Again

So... maybe I'm avoiding finishing up my lesson for Relief Society tomorrow.

Or maybe I'm finally playing catch-up.

A couple of weeks ago, my grandma passed away. It's been almost 8 years since Grandpa died so I'm sure it was a happy reunion. But it still is sad. I have a lot of regrets. She only lived in Logan but since I got back from my mission 6 years ago, I have seen Grandma maybe once or twice. But I know she loved me, I just wish I had made an effort to drive up there more often.

So on Conference Saturday I got up, went for a run, dressed and drove up to Logan for the funeral. All of my siblings were able to be there–Even J happened to be stateside for work so he was able to make a detour out.

It was a lovely ceremony and felt very family oriented. I'm so grateful that I had Grandma White's example in my life.

I'll admit it though, I'm a little sad at the thought that none of my grandparents will be able to attend my wedding now. That my future husband will never get to meet these amazing people from whom I descended. He'll only have to hear about the stories.

Because if there's one thing the White side of the gene pool gave us–it's the ability to tell a good story.

Cooking Capers Part II

Remember when Linds and I tried to cook together and had some success?

We decided to try it again.

Round 2 if you will.

I know what you're thinking: Dude, Laurel. That sounds disgusting.

I promise. It wasn't. It was delicious. We hardly had any leftovers.
Pinterest came through for us again.

Yep... don't worry. Linds took a picture of me. Heaven knows that I'm back to my habit of not being in any pictures. I've got to change that habit and soon!

Photographer... Not

About a month ago, I got asked to put some of my photography skills to work.

I jumped at the chance (even if my skills are super rusty and no where near professional).

Bri is getting married and Linds was asked to throw a wedding shower.
And it was darling.
Brilliant.
Classy.

I'm hoping she starts a company so that I can pay her to throw me a party (I may ask her to help come up with some party planning ideas... but currently I'm hoping she just survives to the end of the school year right now so I won't ask.)

But here are some of the pictures I took (again please forgive my lack of skill)

(the party favors... aren't they darling??)

I realize how out of focus this is. I need my eyes checked.
We had this in the morning so this is kind of a breakfast bar. Delicious!

My favorite part of the bar. All I wanted was another fruit pizza... and another... and...

Before the end of the shower, we each had to write some message for Bri and Will--a wish for them, a hope, or advice. I thought this table was perfect--so vintage!

The planner and the food table. So beautiful! (BOTH!)

Linds showing off the salt and pepper shake gift I gave to Bri and William. I found it online and was so proud to find something unique and adorable.

It was difficult to take pictures against the sun shining through the window. But this one I felt captured a part of Bri's personality. I love the softness of the light and the calmness of her expression. All while she's opening a plunger. (That last sentence made me laugh. I might be a bit ridiculous).

So, what have we learned?
I need to re-read my photography books.
And I need to practice more.
Good thing my friends keep getting married and keep having parties.

In the Meantime...

I realize that I need to update... desperately.

I have pictures, I promise.

You know you're busy when you have to schedule your errands into your day. And you have a 30 minute run scheduled in 15 minutes and you're still at work.

But please view this:

That would be MY name... in a credit for a TV show.

I guess that counts from my bucket list. Not a film, but a TV show. I maybe got excited because I didn't know that it was going to be up there.

Yep. I'm famous. At least for the 1.2 seconds it was up.
