Just To Feel Pretty

A couple of weekends ago, I asked my friend Anthony if he wouldn't mind taking some pictures of me.
You see, I got the idea from my friend, Linds, to get some pictures taken because... well, I hate having my picture taken but I am 30 now. It's kind of momentous.

After looking up some pricing of a few photographers in the area, I realized that I did not have the funds to pay for such a thing. But Anthony was willing to do it in exchange for me taking some pictures of him and Julie together.

So on a Saturday we headed up into one of the canyons and trekked down to a little bridge with a lot of snow. And took some pictures.

I think they turned out fabulous. And since I think I'm my biggest critic... yeah.

I thought I'd throw it a nice candid shot of me. I have no idea what I was trying to accomplish there... just goofing off.

Me... attempting to be serious... doesn't work so well.
Also... I apparently went a little crazy with the tan foundation on my cheek. And I haven't figured out how to fix it. Oh well...
Still, it's one of my favorite shots.

Yeah... it was fun.
There are other pictures.... but you get the idea.
Who really wants to see more pictures of me, anyway?

Too Old?

We got a new bishop on Sunday.
A couple of weeks ago, they announced that my current bishop was being called into the stake presidency. Of course that had to be the same week that I gave a talk...
The stake president called the names and the new bishopric was sustained and asked to take a seat on the stand.
As the stake president announced the remainder of the meeting, I turned to my two friends, both 30 years old as well, and said, "Does it concern any of us that we may, in fact, be closer in age to the members of the bishopric than we are to members of our own ward?"
This never happens in any singles ward I've been in, but I swear I thought it was a joke. These guys couldn't be more than 5 years older than me.
So naturally, I did what I do best—I googled my bishop.
I'm happy to report that he's 43.
Basically, I feel as if one of my older brothers is the bishop.
The other funny thing that has to do with this is after church, we had a mingle. Normal occurrence for the singles ward. Really, it's a ritual to try and get us to talk with people besides our friends and hopefully get a date for the weekend. My friends and I usually scope out the food selection and then decide if it's worth staying for. If it is, we get to the front of the line, eat our food at our table and then leave.
Unfortunately, the bishopric's wives found us and sat with us. They MUST have known that we were the oldest girls in the ward. Because we spent another hour chatting it up and having a grand time. I'm now friends with these women.
Which again, begs the question about whether or not I should maybe head to the family ward. Don't get me wrong, I love being able to talk candidly to the bishop and his wife as peers rather than leaders. It just makes me wonder if that means I'm really too old to be in a singles ward.
At least I still have a year to decide...
