Other Stuff Besides RS

I know you're all excited when I talk about Relief Society and the damage I'm doing in corrupting the sisters of the ward.

But I have done some other stuff lately!

A couple of weeks ago, my brother C and his wife, G, and their kids came into town for their annual ski vacation. They were kind enough to take me out to dinner. It was also a perfect opportunity for me to try out my new camera.

Pretty picture!!!

And I'm surviving school. Like I mentioned in my last post--I've turned in my first paper. It was due today but I got it in last night. I'm hoping I did alright. We'll see. I'm always nervous on the first paper--what if my writing style isn't what the professor was looking for? What if I'm not meant to be a librarian? *sigh* It's out of my hands now--hopefully I can find something else to be concerned about.

Cheers!

Just when I think it's all over....

I learn that the good times haven't finished.

This week's challenge as RS president:

Giving a talk!

Yep. I had to give a talk today. And a General Authority decided to come. Luckily, he isn't one I normally work with. But the Stake President was there.

I have a feeling I may be called on to speak in Stake Conference in May. And my feelings have been very right thus far.

Yesterday was the first time I had time to actually work on it--I had a paper due in my class as well as homework and other things.

I wrote 6 different talks.

I took two to church, hoping to figure out which one I was supposed to give.

I picked the one I wrote this morning at 5:30 AM.

At least that's over with.

Next on the docket: Visiting teaching assignments for March. Visiting Teaching Interviews (YAY!). Lesson for Sunday.

I'm still wondering when things will start going smoother. Perhaps in a year when I'm released?

I've come to the conclusion...

...that speed dating is not for me.

Although I was counseled today that I may find my future husband at the car wash. Good thing my car needs a wash!

First week, done.

So, I officially survived my first week of being Relief Society President and already I've:

-had presidency meeting.

-passed out visiting teaching assignments.

-found out why a third of my girls haven't been attending Relief Society (they didn't realize that there were 2 and they didn't know where our Relief Society met).

-got a lecture from a counselor in the Elders Quorum presidency about my stance on dating (it's not that I'm opposed to dating, except when the suggestion is to turn a coordinating meeting between the two presidencies into a "group date". That's what I oppose. I do not want to go on a date and talk about who needs to be visited by the elders. Oh yeah--and despite what he thinks--home teaching is NOT about setting the girls up on dates. I would NEVER ask that of my home teachers... except in jest.).

-almost yelled at aforementioned counselor in the EQ presidency about R-E-S-P-E-C-T, but instead bit my tongue and tried to have patience.

-made it to PEC at 8 AM.

I can't wait to do it all over again this week. With some modifications, of course.

Maybe I'll get the hang of it soon.

I survived...

...the first day on the job.

I'll admit that I was shaking and terribly nervous. (It didn't help that someone gasped loudly when my name was read over the pulpit).

I have counselors and a secretary.

And the girls were very kind as I tried to conduct a meeting for which I wasn't prepared for (I didn't know any of the activities for the week).

At least I have the next two weeks off. (Next week is combined with the other RS in the ward, the other presidency is conducting. The 21st is Ward Conference. The Stake handles RS).

I'll be back on the 28th. Hopefully a bit more organized.

Oh, boy.

Time for a little change

I felt the need to change the layout of my blog. I think this fits me quite nicely.

Nothing new to report. Sunday is going to be my official first day on the job.

I'm nervous.

Happy Birthday, B!

Dear Brother n˚4,

I am SO so so so so so sorry for not posting this blog entry on your birthday. But you understand, right? You understand that yesterday was a little crazy?

Your card is in the mail. I didn't forget.

Just like you can't forget that we (Twin and me) came 2 days before your 8th birthday. I know. A little inconvenient. My apologies.

I think you're great. You're definitely one who I can count on to put a smile on my face.

Thanks for being such an awesome big brother. I love that I get to see you so often. And your kids are pretty darn cute too (not to say that's the only good reason to see you often, but it's an added bonus). I hope your birthday was a good one!

Love, me!
